PATIENT DEPARTMENT

The OPD at Surgimed Hospital has been playing a prominent role in providing medical care for all people coming to it. Patients are treated to the highest standards of quality medical care. Needy patients may be given consideration also.
The OPD includes the following specialties: internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics/adolescence, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, obstetrics/gynecology, psychiatry, dermatology, and family medicine. The OPD also supports the educational and clinical training of medical students.
Catering to the needs of patients on a daily basis are attending physicians with residents and fellows, along with a cadre of nursing staff. The OPD offers a unique opportunity for medical students to have their own patients and to follow up with them. The student is normally assigned a new patient whom s/he attends to, performing a physical examination and a detailed history before presenting the findings to the attending physician on a one-on-one basis. Patients, then, return for follow up and continuity of care. This process not only creates a strong relationship between the student-physician team and the patient, it also leaves an indelible mark on the students who value one of their first experiences in patient care.
